Coverity Named to VDC Research "Best of 2012" Report

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Coverity, Inc., the leader in development testing, today announced that the launch of the Coverity Security Research Laboratory (SRL), in January 2012, has been recognized by industry analyst firm VDC Research Group in its "Top 12 of 2012" report.

VDC Research cited security as one of the main themes that defined technology in 2012, driven largely by the need to build more secure devices as mobile and cloud computing gain popularity with consumers. Coverity's SRL was ranked number four on the research firm's annual "Top 12 of 2012" report.

"The need for secure development has become a widely discussed topic in the industry, yet all too often, we see developers left out of the security equation - security needs to fit into the way developers work instead of the other way around," said Jennifer Johnson, VP of Marketing at Coverity. "The launch of the Coverity SRL was a unique opportunity to couple deep security expertise with our existing, deep development expertise, in order to build cutting-edge security research intelligence into the Coverity technology portfolio and, ultimately, to ensure software security and reduced business risks for our customers."
