China Unicom to enhance cooperation with private firms in cloud computing

BEIJING, Jan 17, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH), the country's second largest mobile telecom operator, will enhance cooperation with private companies in the field of enterprise cloud service product, such as cloud host and cloud storage, said Kang Nan, general manager of the IDC operation center of China Unicom System Integration Ltd.

Kang said Thursday at the 7th China IDC Industry Annual Ceremony that China Unicom will deploy a unified and green resource pool of enterprise cloud service base, provide high-performance and safe enterprise cloud service products, establish flexible and convenient enterprise private cloud hosting service center, and construct application-supported sharable incubating platform.

In providing enterprise cloud service products, China Unicom will offer cloud host, cloud storage, exclusive cloud, cloud incubation, and cloud integration products. But the telecom operator's weakness in cloud host and cloud storage makes it in need of partners. (Edited by Luo Jingjing, luojj@xinhua.org)
