Windstream Communications Deploys Hatteras Networks Ethernet
Mar 05, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Hatteras Networks, a developer of multi-service ethernet solutions for enterprise access services and mobile backhaul, announced that Windstream, a carrier in the United States, has standardized upon and deployed a Hatteras Networks solution for Ethernet service delivery over both copper (EoC) and Time Division Multiplexing (EoTDM) infrastructure.
According to Hatteras, the unified networks solution, the HN6100, delivering up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth, enables delivery of any Ethernet service over any media.
"The Hatteras Networks solution offered an option for deploying Ethernet services to business customers," said Bill Bellando, VP of network services, Windstream. "In addition, we were very happy with the service and support we received from Hatteras during the network upgrade and deployment."
Windstream offers IP-based voice and data services and phone systems and equipment to businesses and government agencies, as well as phone, high-speed Internet and high-definition digital TV services to consumers, via three million access lines in mostly midsize, small and rural communities across 21 states. Windstream's portfolio of Ethernet Business Services, including Internet access and virtual private networks (VPNs), is available in more than 1,000 Windstream exchanges covering approximately 98 percent of its ILEC territory.
