Cassia Co. finds man guilty of sexual battery
BURLEY, Jan 09, 2010 (The Times-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A Cassia County jury found a Heyburn man guilty Wednesday of one count of battery with the intent to commit rape, one count of sexual penetration with a foreign object and one count of battery after two separate encounters with victims on the same day at a Burley residence last summer.
Tyrell Ramsey, 22, was charged July 16 with two counts of attempted rape, two counts of battery with intent to commit rape and one count of sexual penetration by use of a foreign object, according to court records.
Ramsey will be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. March 9 in Cassia County 5th District Court. He is being held in the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center on a $100,000 bond.
According to court records, Ramsey allegedly had an encounter with one of the victims after following her into the bathroom at the home. According to a criminal complaint, the victim said she had been playing a "drinking game" with Ramsey and others at the home before the incident.
The guilty verdict on the battery charge stemmed from that event.
According to court records, the second victim said Ramsey took her to the back yard of the home an hour later, where a second incident occurred. The guilty verdicts on the battery with intent to commit rape and the sexual penetration with a foreign object charges stemmed from that event.
Ramsey was ordered by the court to undergo a psychosexual evaluation before sentencing.
