Education and First-Hand Experiences Create Formula for Success as KioskCom Self Service Expo & the Digital Signage Show Close 2009 with Another Successful Showing in New York
TRUMBULL, Conn. --(Business Wire)--
Hailed as the leading dual-industry event created for self service and digital signage audiences, KioskCom Self Service Expo and The Digital Signage Show closed 2009 with yet another successful co-located conference at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City from November 10-11. As promised, this year's fall event delivered strategic, marketing and technical business solutions for organizations involved in self service and digital signage, with the uncertain economy doing little to discourage excitement in either field. This fact was made very clear by the enthusiasm with which attendees and exhibitors discussed kiosk and digital signage use and development at the show.
For more than a decade, the highly-anticipated event has provided attendees with access to industry thought leaders, advanced technologies, insightful discussions and demonstrations, and case studies from well-known companies including The Coca Cola Company, Coinstar, Inc., Cabela's, Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Seventh Generation, SoloHealth and The Tween Network, among many others.
"A range of innovations were unveiled at this year's show, which offered a unique opportunity for first-hand discussions and innovative demonstrations in advertising planning and placement, data casting, anonymous facial recognition, 3-D aerial imaging and media management software, just to name a few," said Lyle Bunn, principal and strategy architect of Bunn, Co. and author of the popular SPEED training program. "With special events, including "Cooking Up Content," the demonstration of content development processes sponsored by Harris Corp. and Samsung, the SPEED digital signage training program and the release of new industry data by PQ Media, all served to advance the overall capabilities of the industry at large."
This year, conference organizers also successfully created excitement surrounding the show through social media tools such as Twitter. Organizers promoted discussions among industry tweeters and provided live updates via their own accounts, @kioskcom and @digitalsignshow. Paul Flanigan, founding partner of The Preset Group and a conference speaker tweeted, "Day 1 at KioskCom in the books. Judging by the client / vendor conversations, I would say some books are doing much better tonight." Mike Honkomp, founder of Digikomp also tweeted, "Plenty to follow up with the KioskCom and Digital Signage show in NYC. Great show, met new connections and learned a lot in just 3 days."
New to the show's line-up was Coinstar, Inc.'s "The Next Big Idea Contest," where the automated retail experts gave away $10,000 for the best new concept in retail-based kiosks. Presented by keynote speaker Gregg Kaplan, president and COO of Coinstar, the winner of the contest was San Diego-based ecoATM, a company who developed a kiosk allowing customers to recycle used cell phones and other electronics. During his keynote discussing best practices for successful self-service offerings, Kaplan said they chose ecoATM, because the program "essentially hits on every measurement we're talking about."
"Once again KioskCom offered a very well-rounded event for attendees and exhibitors. The organizers did an excellent job of fueling the right conversations and putting together a variety of informative sessions and specialized tech talks aimed at helping attendees to better understand the various technology solutions available on the exhibit floor," said Janet L. Webster, President of Creative Solutions Consulting and President of the Self-Service & Kiosk Association. "The event provided easy access to all types of information that can definitely help you to create a solid strategy to meet your business needs as well as providing access to the technology that can support putting your plan into action."
Each year, one of the most awaited events on the conference agenda for The Digital Signage Show is the DIGI Awards presentation ceremony.
