FireHost Grows Customer Base Over 40 Percent in Q3; Names New CTO
DALLAS, TX, Oct 28, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
FireHost, a secure Web hosting company, is leading the charge for
the secure hosting market with strong growth in Q3 and even stronger
projections for Q4. As more small to mid-size businesses incorporate
ecommerce into their online operations and store valuable data
collected from the Web, the need for protection from hackers and
cybercrime is higher than ever. FireHost offers enterprise-level
security to the SMB market with application layer protection, and the
secure hosting provider is gaining significant traction with clients
such as Kevin Mitnick, famed hacker from the '80s and '90s, the
National Breast Cancer Foundation, Pizza Inn, and Jigsaw Health.
FireHost has successfully protected the popular online community for
the National Breast Cancer Foundation since 2008. Their previous host
provided fully managed hosting with firewall protection, but that
wasn't enough. "It's been a top priority for us to partner with a
secure hosting provider who can keep our forum free of spam and
protect our members' information. After switching to FireHost, we
realized cybercriminals accounted for nearly 15 percent of our Web
site traffic," said Kevin Williams, executive director of marketing
of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. "Our website is meant to be
a safe haven for cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
Hackers were compromising our entire mission, but FireHost was able
to stop them when our previous hosting provider could not."
FireHost started offering secure hosting services in 2008 and had
their official marketing launch in June 2009. Since that launch, the
company has experienced double-digit revenue growth month-over-month.
The company attributes this growth to threat awareness among SMBs
that have experienced recent attacks from hackers on their Web site
and learned the hard way that traditional hosting companies do not
offer advanced protection and do not manage security for them. Chris
Drake, CEO and founder of FireHost goes on to say, "It is a
devastating experience for a business' valuable data to be
compromised. With standard hosting providers, by the time a company
learns they've been hacked or compromised in some way it's often
months after the malicious activity actually started. That's why
FireHost provides proactive, enterprise-level security to SMBs at the
application level, where SMBs are often most vulnerable."
Jigsaw Health has hosted its ecommerce site with FireHost for several
years and has never experienced a security breach. "We chose FireHost
because it's not just about being PCI compliant and keeping up with
ecommerce best practices, it's about selecting a company that
continuously looks into the future of security needs," said Patrick
Sullivan, CEO of Jigsaw Health. "We're dealing with our customers'
financial data, as well as personal health information, so securing
records and identities are our top priority. With FireHost we are
fully confident that this information will remain secure now and over
time."
FireHost also added a new CTO, Jason Rieger, to its executive team.
Prior to joining FireHost, Rieger was a senior engineer at Accudata
Systems where he developed key security and other IT initiatives on
Web sites with enterprise hosting environments. Companies he's worked
with include, 7-Eleven, Brinker International, Acme Brick Company,
and Methodist health system.
