FreeBSD® 7.2 is the third release from the 7-STABLE branch. This release offers some new features, as well as improving upon the functionality of FreeBSD® 7.1. FreeBSD® 7.2 updates Gnome to 2.26 and KDE to 4.2.2 and improves the boot(8) BTX loader. Some other highlights of FreeBSD® 7.2 include:   The FreeBSD virtual memory subsystem now supports fully transparent use of superpages for application memory. This change offers improved virtual memory efficiency.

The jail(8) subsystem has been greatly enhanced with support for multiple IPv4 and IPv6 addresses per jail, SCTP support, CPU binding, and more.

Csup(1), a software package for updating collections of files across a network, now supports CVSMode to fetch a complete CVS repository.

FreeBSD sparc64 now supports Ultra SPARC III (Cheetah) processor family.

FreeBSD® 7.2 is earning rave reviews from technical experts due to its facilitation of operating-system level virtualization that allows administrators to partition a FreeBSD-based computer system into several independent mini-systems called jails. "FreeBSD jails have been an integral part of our infrastructure for years.
