Novell introduces Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization 7
(Worldwide Computer Products News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Novell (Nasdaq:NOVL), an IT software, systems and technology company,
announced on Wednesday (4 March) the availability of Novell ZENworks
Application Virtualization 7, which can now be integrated with Novell
ZENworks Configuration Management to help customers and managed service
provides reduce the cost of testing, packaging and configuring virtual
applications.
According to the company, the latest release enables customers to
publish virtual applications to their ZENworks Configuration Management
zone without leaving the packaging tool. ZENworks Application
Virtualization allows customers to restrict virtual applications from
running on devices not registered with their ZENworks Configuration
Management zone and convert legacy applications into virtual
applications, in this way eliminating compatibility issues.
The solution also enables Windows administrators and managed service
providers to quickly package applications into a stand-alone executable
that can be distributed and run on any Windows Vista, Windows XP or
Windows 2000 workstations without a traditional install. With the
latest release, virtual packages are isolated from the installation and
configuration process to prevent them from interfering with other
applications. In addition, once the application is created, it can now
be distributed across Windows desktops using ZENworks management
solutions.
The new release allows customers to easily configure file association
and icons so that the application feels like other Windows application
to the end user, as well as enable optional application compression and
distribute patches for virtual applications independent from the
application itself, the company said.
Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization is available for a list
price of USD39 per user or instance license.
