Intellectual Property Litigator Shawn McDonald Joins Sheppard Mullin Del Mar Heights

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN DIEGO, CA, July 29 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Shawn E. McDonald has joined the Del Mar
Heights office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as special
counsel in the firm's Intellectual Property practice group. McDonald joins
from the San Diego office of Latham & Watkins.

McDonald has significant trial experience as counsel in patent litigations
at district court and appellate stages. His practice concerns diverse
technologies and has included matters involving automotive fuel systems,
electronic power converters, semiconductor manufacturing, arterial
stent-grafts, spinal implants, lighting fixtures, antidepressants,
analgesics, gypsum wallboard, and electronic dispensers.

McDonald previously clerked for The Honorable Paul R. Michel, Chief Judge,
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to attending law
school, he was a product engineer in the Fuel Systems Group at Siemens VDO
Automotive, where he conducted fuel systems research and launched new
designs in large-scale OEM production.

"We are thrilled to have Shawn join our thriving and growing IP practice.
His significant technology expertise and amiable personality are an
excellent addition to the group," said Amar Thakur, co-chair of Sheppard
Mullin's Intellectual Property Group.

Commented McDonald, "Sheppard Mullin continues to expand its IP
capabilities and I am excited about joining the formidable team in the Del
Mar Heights office. I am impressed by the breadth of tech and life
sciences matters handled by the group."

McDonald received a J.D. from The University of Virginia in 1999, an M.B.A.
from William and Mary in 1996, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, magna
cum laude, from Old Dominion University in 1993. He is USPTO registered
and a member of the New York and California bars.

Patent litigation partners Steven M. Hanle and Jennifer A. Trusso joined

the Orange County office of Sheppard Mullin earlier this month as members
of the firm's IP practice group. The firm has close to 50 attorneys based
in its Del Mar Heights office and the IP practice group includes more than
60 attorneys firmwide.
