ControlPoint Developer Alliance Draws Leading Computing and Networking Firms as Founding Members

CALABASAS, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Fulcrum Microsystems today announced that Continuous Computing, Green Hills Software, Liquid Computing, Nimbus Data Systems, Open Grid Computing, Panasas, Quadrics, SMC Networks and XORP are founding members of the ControlPoint Developer Alliance, which was announced today. The Alliance is a collaboration of telecom infrastructure, data center computing and complementary software vendors coming together to develop a next-generation network operating system for enterprise, telecom and data center fabrics based on the ControlPoint 10G Ethernet Switch Management Software Suite.

The open environment of the ControlPoint Developer Alliance is designed to foster collaboration among member companies, offering a forum in which they can leverage each other's expertise, tailor the ControlPoint software to bring their solutions to market quickly and extend them using complementary open-source networking technology. The transition is part of an industry-wide movement toward open networks--in this case, designed to foster the widespread adoption of 10G Ethernet as the fabric of choice to unify the fragmented datacenter.

The press release announcing the Alliance is available at Fulcrum's Web site (http://www.fulcrummicro.com), as well as more information about the ControlPoint Developer Alliance (http://www.fulcrummicro.com/cda). Fulcrum will demonstrate ControlPoint software at Interop Las Vegas (April 27 to May 2, booth #2177) and will officially launch the Alliance web site at the show.

The founding members of the ControlPoint Developer Alliance are:

Continuous Computing

"We have a solid working relationship with Fulcrum, which has enabled us to make numerous customer-driven enhancements to the software," said Mike Dagenais, president and CEO of Continuous Computing. "Fulcrum has done a great job of delivering the ControlPoint software foundation and supporting us through our development of key high availability enhancements that are required for telecom-grade ATCA platforms. We are pleased to contribute those enhancements back to the ControlPoint Developer Alliance, to strengthen the ecosystem and create a forum for establishing similar relationships with other like-minded companies."

Continuous Computing(R) provides integrated systems and services that enable telecom equipment manufacturers to rapidly deploy Next Generation Networks (NGN). More than 150 customers worldwide benefit from the company's unique blend of customized professional services, Trillium(R) protocol software, AdvancedTCA and CompactPCI systems, and BladeCenter hardware. Continuous Computing helps customers reduce platform lifecycle costs, optimize data delivery, and accelerate deployments of NGN, 3G Wireless, and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) infrastructure. The company is ISO-9001 certified and is based in San Diego with development centers in China and India. For more information, visit www.ccpu.com.

Green Hills Software

"Green Hills is pleased to be a founding member of Fulcrum's ControlPoint Developer Alliance and part of the collaborative efforts to transform the data center," said Dan Mender, Vice President Business Development, Green Hills Software. "This Alliance gives members an ideal environment to leverage our INTEGRITY(R) secure operating system in combination with GateD(R) routing solutions. It addresses one of the main and growing concerns end customers have today -- the vulnerability of their networks to attacks. This commercial-grade, pre-integrated solution is available today, reducing product time-to-market while increasing system scalability and security."

Founded in 1982, Green Hills Software, Inc. is the technology leader in device software optimization (DSO) and real-time operating systems (RTOS) for 32- and 64-bit embedded systems. Our royalty-free INTEGRITY(R) and velOSity(TM) real-time operating systems, u-velOSity(TM) microkernel, IPv6-Ready TCP/IP network stacks, GateD(R) Routing, compilers, MULTI(R) and AdaMULTI(TM) integrated development environments, DoubleCheck(TM) integrated static analyzer and TimeMachine(TM) debugger offer a complete development solution that addresses both deeply embedded and high-reliability applications. Liquid Computing

"Feature rich and cost effective 10-Gigabit Ethernet switching is a key element of the fully virtualized LiquidIQ system," said Mike Kemp, CTO of Liquid Computing. "We're able to get to market sooner and deliver more value to customers through the use of the ControlPoint software."

Liquid Computing is the leading provider of fabric computing architecture, a new generation of IT infrastructure that is transforming the traditional rack mount server and switch configurations commonplace in data centers. LiquidIQ, the world's first fully converged communications and computing platform, provides pools of computing, memory, networking and I/O resources and allows for software defined creation of logical data center infrastructure, including servers, VLANs, subnets, storage gateways, firewalls, VPNs, etc. For more information, visit www.liquidcomputing.com.

Nimbus Data Systems

"Nimbus welcomes programs that simplify and encourage broad adoption of 10GbE as the storage interconnect for server virtualization and digital content consolidation," said Thomas Isakovich, CEO and Founder of Nimbus Data Systems. "Fulcrum's ControlPoint Developer Alliance helps accomplish this by enabling development of intelligent 10GbE fabrics that leverage an open programming and management framework."

Nimbus Data Systems, Inc. develops innovative IP storage systems and software that help enterprises meet the challenges of rising datacenter costs, increased dependence on non-stop IT operations, and ambitious server consolidation programs. Nimbus' state-of-the-art Breeze multi-protocol IP storage systems, featuring Nimbus' powerful HALO storage operating system, provide an ideal storage infrastructure for midsize enterprises focused on storage consolidation, server virtualization, and rich content storage. With over 10,000 installations worldwide, Nimbus' MySAN software is the world's most popular iSCSI target for Microsoft Windows servers. Founded in 2003 and based in San Francisco, California, Nimbus is privately financed and distributes its products through a worldwide network of integration and OEM partners. Open Grid Computing

"As an active member of the Openfabrics Alliance, we are accustomed to working closely with other vendors to leverage our expertise in the clustering area of the data center," said Tom Tucker, president of Open Grid Computing. "The ControlPoint Developer Alliance is a similarly great opportunity for us to share our knowledge and capabilities to help Fulcrum's customer base get to market quickly. We have been working with Fulcrum and many of its customers for well over a year now. The Alliance gives everyone a more efficient framework to leverage each others' investments in enhancing and integrating the ControlPoint software."

Open Grid Computing is a privately held development services company specializing in open source and standards-based hardware and software platforms for 10Gb and greater storage and compute clusters. Founded in September 2005, OGC employs twelve engineers in a 5800-square-foot facility in Austin, Texas.

Panasas

"The ControlPoint software solution enables Panasas to effectively deploy 10G Ethernet in top-of-rack and embedded switches so customers can scale our ActiveStor parallel storage solutions to fit their application performance and network infrastructure requirements," said Tim Belcher, director of channel partner marketing for Panasas. "Panasas is a leader in high-performance, scalable storage, and we see the ControlPoint Developer Alliance as an ideal venue for us to leverage that expertise to drive 10G Ethernet adoption in our market space."
